One decision can be the difference of how the direction of your live moves towards. What’s crazy is that we never make the hard decisions instead try to be comfortable and take the easy way out. This week, I’ve challenged myself to do what I normally wouldn’t do. I purposefully started conversations with random people and to be honest it did me more good than harm. Sure, some people were like “fuck off, bye” but many were nice and had good conversation with me. I developed multiple friendships and feel like I have grown as a person in these past couple of days by doing the uncomfortable thing. I also decided to say yes to every single invitation I get and that also led to new friendships and experiences that I would never have if I sat in my dorm room doing nothing.
Putting yourself in uncomfortable situations is easier said than done, but the hardest part is to just start. Clear your head and just go for it and land your feet to the next step. We focus to much on making the perfect step and we think about how our feet is going to land even before we raise our feet. The best thing to do is to just go for it and put your step forward and adapt to the environment. That’s the hardest part! Starting is the hardest part! I’m sure there’s some science about inertia that supports that statement but honestly, starting is the hardest part. I read an article today about how our attention span is less than that of a goldfish, however if we just start something, take a deep breath and dial in, we can accomplish almost anything. This also brings me to the fact that you need to work on things you love. If you don’t love the task you’re doing, it just makes sense that your mind is going to wander off and your not going to get things done.
Find what you love, I’m not telling you to find your life purpose or anything, it can just be a project you work on for a period in your life, find something that you enjoy doing and are passionate about doing and just go 100% all in on it. Be consistent and be locked in and your life is going to change for the better!
